ID Released For Man Found Shot Dead At Long Island Intersection

The identity has been released for a man who was found shot dead at a Long Island intersection.

Police officers responded to a report of shots fired in Hempstead near the intersection of Peninsula Boulevard and Sewell Street at about 11 p.m. on Sunday, Jan. 30, according to the Nassau County Police Department.

Upon arrival, officers located a 49-year-old man laying on the ground. The male victim suffered from apparent gunshot wounds. He was transported to a nearby hospital where he was soon after pronounced dead by hospital staff, police said. 

On Friday, Feb. 4, police announced that the victim has been identified as Santos Valeriano Argueta, of Hempstead.

The investigation is ongoing.
